Samsung Galaxy phone will work like Windows PC webcam, rollout soon!
Samsung and Microsoft are about to revolutionize the camera quality of your Windows PCs. The latest Galaxy Book series laptops are preparing to add support for smartphone webcam features. It will address the problem of PC/Lapotp’s low-resolution camera problem.
Previously, Samsung announced that it’s partnering with Microsoft to enable Galaxy phones to be used as wireless webcam for Windows PCs. The smartphone camera will also offer features like background blur and auto framing on Windows PCs.

It’s now revealed that Android 14-based One UI 6.0 is the minimum OS requirement for this feature. Apart from Galaxy smartphones/tablets, the webcam feature will be available on Samsung’s laptops – Galaxy Book with Windows 11 24H1 OS.
In a Korean product page’s footnote, it’s mentioned that the webcam feature will be available on “Samsung Galaxy smartphones with One UI 6.0 and higher.” Besides, it’s mentioned that this feature requires a “Samsung Galaxy Book series [device] with One UI 6.0 or higher and Windows 11 24H1 OS.”
It is expected that Windows 11 24H1 will be rolled out next month, bringing support for the webcam feature to Galaxy products. It is reported that the webcam will be available for use as part of Microsoft’s Phone Link application.
