Google Maps enhances user experience with fresh UI changes

Google is introducing some significant redesigns to key areas of the Maps app, particularly when searching for directions. The new UI changes aim to make the app more intuitive, less cluttered, and more useful. The changes are currently available on Android with Google Maps version 11.113.x.

Now when you tap a location, you’ll see a new sheet design with Close and Share buttons in the top right corner and a background sheet behind that. This allows you to easily access more information or functions without losing the map.

Along with this, another change the company has made is that locations are no longer fullscreen, but instead show a piece of the map background on top. This helps you track where you are and where you want to go.

The directions search UI is now smaller and only for addresses. This gives more space and less clutter. You can swipe to change transportation modes, which are lower. Swiping up shows more map behind the UI. This helps you see and compare different navigation options.

These changes are rolling out for limited devices and the company will soon make it available for all Android devices.
