Google is constantly improving the Messages app with new features and updates to make it more useful. At the moment, the Gooogle Messages is testing a new feature that will let you react to messages with a simple double tap.

According to a promo string found in the app, users will be able to double-tap on a text or chat to get a tray of emoji and Photomoji options. This feature is currently available in the latest beta version (20240208_00_RC00) of the app, but it is not yet live for all users.

The current way to react to messages in Google Messages is to long-press on them and select an emoji or a Photomoji from the menu. It is unclear whether this option will remain available after the double-tap feature is introduced.

Moreover, Google is rebranding its one-to-one chatbot feature inside Messages. Previously known as Bard, the chatbot is now called Gemini. Google has not officially announced the launch of Gemini, but the name change suggests that it is getting closer to a public release.
