One UI 7 will be based on Android 15, DP1 launch expected this week
Google is reportedly planning to release the first preview of its next major Android update, Android 15, this week. It will likely include new features, improvements, and bug fixes that will be enhanced for several beta versions before the final release later this year.
According to a comment posted (via 9to5Google) by a Google developer on the Android Open Source Project, the preview is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024. The developer also revealed that the internal codename for Android 15 is “Android V,” which means “Vanilla Ice Cream.”

The Android 15 DP will be the first glimpse of what Google plans for its mobile operating system in 2024. However, the preview will not be available for everyone. Only Pixel devices will be eligible to install it, as usual.
Those who are enrolled in the Android 14 beta program will have to wait until the beta versions are released, which are more stable and suitable for public testing.
On the other side, Samsung will also release an Android 15-based One UI 7 update for Galaxy devices once Google launches the new version of Android. At the moment, Samsung is working to release the Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 update.
