Huawei braces Tri-Fold phone against Samsung, OPPO and vivo prep to quit foldable market

Huawei reportedly launches the world’s first Tri-Fold phone next quarter before Samsung. Seeing Huawei’s seriousness in the foldable segment as well as its business downfall, Chinese vendors including OPPO and Vivo preparing to quit the market.

According to a report, Huawei will launch a 10-inch Tri-Fold phone in the next quarter. As the foldable market is dominated by Samsung and the premium segment by Apple, Huawei’s lead in new form factor devices would be proven as a game changer for the vendor.

As Huawei turns on its beast mode, Samsung and Apple have also started to ramp up their efforts. While Apple’s first foldable is expected to come in 2027, Samsung is preparing to introduce its rollable display smartphone, but after bringing a Galaxy Tri-Fold to the market.

The report states that Huawei’s Tri-Fold smartphone has a screen that reaches 10 inches when fully unfolded, targeting Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold smartphone and Apple’s iPad tablet. If Huawei’s strategy is successful, a change in the global smartphone market is expected to inevitably change.

The Chinese tech maker has reportedly started preparations for mass production of a Tri-Fold phone, which folds twice into a Z shape. Judging from the tentative launch timeframe, Huawei would be the first manufacturer to introduce such kind of foldable device.
