Android 15 may let you control keyboard haptics from Settings menu

Google has finally released an Android 15 Developer Preview Beta 1 with some tugs and tweaks, such as the ability to control keyboard haptics directly from the Settings menu. Thus, users will now not need to turn off keyboard vibration for every single app separately.

As per the details of 9To5Google, the Android 15 Developer Preview 1 Setting app shows a new menu under the Vibration & haptics section, it offers a new toggle for Keyboard vibration. The option comes enabled by default but can be turned off as per user preference.

Notably, this feature is not linked to any specific keyboard app, but it works on settings. Furthermore, the setting of the new Keyboard vibration toggle in Android 15 does not sync with Gboard’s toggle for Haptic feedback on press.

It means Android 15 could disable the keyboard’s haptics even if any app has them enabled. Currently, there is no further information available about the functioning of this new Keyboard vibration menu, but we can expect to see more details about it in the coming weeks.

Simultaneously, the preview program runs from February 2024 until the final public release to AOSP and OEMs, planned for later in the year.
