A fake email that claims Google will shut down Gmail in 2024 has been circulating on social media platforms like Twitter/X. The email looks like an official announcement from Google, but it is not. It is a fake email that has no truth to it.

The viral fake email says that Gmail will be “sunsetting” on 1st August 2024, and suggests users switch to other email services. However, this is a lie and Gmail is here to stay. The official Gmail account on Twitter/X has confirmed that “Gmail is here to stay.”

The only thing that Google has announced about Gmail is that its classic “HTML View” will be discontinued in 2024. This is a simple version of Gmail that has fewer features and is used as a backup option. Most users will not be affected by this change, as they use the normal Gmail interface.
