Samsung Galaxy S24 boosts Camera Lens Market in 2024: TrendForce Report
TrendForce’s latest report revealed that the smartphone camera lens market is expected to rebound in 2024, growing by 3.8% to reach about 4.22 billion units. This growth is driven by the increasing demand for AI-powered smartphones.
Samsung is a leader in the smartphone camera lens market with its Galaxy S24 series, which has the ProVisual Engine algorithm to optimize images. The market is also showing a shift towards higher resolution and more lenses for rear camera setups. The standard configuration is now 49MP to 64MP for primary lenses and three lenses for rear setups.

Moreover, hardware innovations such as periscopic lens modules, hybrid glass-plastic lenses, and APO lenses are enabling better color fidelity and imaging capabilities.
According to the report, another factor that is driving the market is the consumer preference for camera spec upgrades so brands are focusing on enhancing the specs of high-end models. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the Tetraprism zoom lens, which will be used by more iPhone 16 Pro models. Vivo’s Y200 smartphone has a 64MP main camera, whereas most brands have scaled down the camera specs for their entry-level models.
However, the market is also facing challenges like cost issues. Android brands have different solutions for mid-range and high-end models. The future depends on how brands and consumers balance cost and performance.
