WhatsApp is working on a new Third-party chats feature to influence the digital market and get connected with people even without having a WhatsApp account. But along with the opportune, there are some cons of this feature as well, like it may increase the risk of spam and scams.

As per the details, this third-party chats feature complies with new EU regulations, and WhatsApp is also preparing a separate section for this interoperability chats. With the help of this new section, users can decide whether to enable third-party support for their accounts or not.

Although the end-to-end encryption must be preserved in interoperable messaging systems, third-party apps may use different end-to-end encryption. As a result, these chats will be listed in a different inbox within the chats tab and provide users with more versatile communication options.

Also, the risk of spam and scams may be more common in conversations through third-party chat where ‎profile name and photo are not available. In addition, considering that third-party apps operate under their policies, they may handle data in ways that differ from WhatsApp’s practices.

Since it is required by law, WhatsApp must offer support for third-party chats to their European Region users, Hence, users in Europe will be able to chat with others on WhatsApp using various messaging apps, even if they don’t have an account. Accordingly, this feature is totally optional, and users will need to manually activate the interoperability service.
