The South Korean tech giant is working on XR devices and the firm earlier decided to order panels for the first headsets from Samsung Display only. But now it seems that there have been some changes in the planning, as Samsung will now use Sony OLEDoS display for its first extended reality (XR) Headset.

As per the recent report Omidia, Sony a well-reputed manufacturer will supply an OLEDoS internal display for the Samsung XR headset that is scheduled to launch at the end of this year. Because Sony has been judged to be more competitive and superlative than Samsung Display in OLEDOS for XR devices.

To be mentioned, Sony is expected to supply white (W)-organic light emitting diode (OLED) type micro-organic light emitting diodes (OLEDOS) to Samsung Electronics’ XR device internal display which is about 1.3 inches. FYI, the Apple Vision Pro which launched last month also equips OLEDoS supplied by Sony.

OLEDoS is a display made by depositing organic materials on a silicon wafer instead of a glass substrate and it has a high level of technical difficulty. Therefore, as of now, there are no companies actively jumping into OLEDoS.

However, Samsung Display officially showcases its RGB OLEDoS display for the XR headset but that too needs more time to achieve results with RGB OLEDoS.
