Apple buys DarwinAI for iPhones seeing Galaxy AI’s quick rise

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series gaining immense popularity in the smartphone market and one of its main reasons is Galaxy AI. Therefore, Apple being one of the major competitors of the South Korean tech giant also seems entering the era of AI with its newly purchased DarwinAI.

Yes, you read it right, Apple has recently bought a new Canada-based DarwinAI startup, seeing the quick rise of Galaxy AI. Apple has lagged in releasing gen-AI-powered features for its devices, but now the maker is getting prepared to compete with its rivals like  Google, Meta, and Microsoft.

According to the report of Bloomberg, Apple has added another AI startup to its acquisition list and diverted several members to its machine learning team. Also, the new Canada-based DarwinAI specializes in vision-based tech to observe components during manufacturing to improve efficiency.

The report further states that, apart from helping with manufacturing efficiency, DarwinAI also uses techniques to make AI models smaller and faster. This could be useful for on-device generative AI features Apple hopes to introduce in iOS 18 this year, which Samsung already offering for its users.

However, the move of Apple to enter into the era of AI might be challenging for other manufacturers in the tech world.
