Samsung is considering the introduction of Galaxy AI features in its previous Galaxy S22 series. The idea was revealed by Samsung’s MX division head Roh Tae-moon, during the company’s 55th regular shareholders’ meeting in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.

The Galaxy S22 series may soon benefit from AI features, which are currently exclusive to the new Galaxy S24 series and the company is working to release it to other latest flagship models including Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 in late March.

During the meeting, it was noted that while the hardware capabilities of the Galaxy S23 FE and the Galaxy S22 are largely similar, the AI update has not been extended to models preceding the Galaxy S22.

President Noh highlighted the importance of a ‘hybrid AI’ approach that combines cloud-based and on-device AI. This method is designed to optimize performance based on the hardware’s capabilities. Samsung is investing resources to overcome the challenges posed by hardware limitations and is preparing to support a comprehensive Galaxy AI experience.
