Samsung is advancing its SmartThings ‘Map View’ service by including AI and 3D technology. The Map View service Map View lets you view and manage devices in each space at a glance while viewing a virtual drawing of your living space on SmartThings.

The latest update brings an automatic map creation tool that uses spatial AI technology. Even without a floor plan, devices equipped with LiDAR sensors, like the ‘Bespoke Jet Bot AI’, can map out a home’s structure.

The new 3D view feature helps users better understand their home’s layout and control devices related to lighting, temperature, air quality, and energy consumption.

Samsung has also expanded compatibility to include Android and iOS devices, Samsung Smart TVs, and appliances with large displays such as the ‘Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub’ and ‘Bespoke AI Combo’.

Map View service is set to become globally available, following Korea and the US, where it was launched last year. Samsung plans to introduce personalized services with AI characters and collaborate with the building and interior design sectors to make Map View useful in apartments and offices.

Map View feature can be accessed via the Samsung SmartThings application on both Android and iOS smartphones, and also on TVs. Moreover, control options for this feature are expected to be integrated into other platforms, including Family Hub refrigerators, in the upcoming months.
