WhatsApp takes proper care of the privacy of its users and to provide consumers an additional layer of security, the Meta-based app may soon let users disable link previews. Yes, WhatsApp is now working on additional advanced features, aimed at offering users greater control over their privacy.

The latest version of WhatsApp shows a new option in the Advanced settings citing “Disable link previews” and this will allow users to take greater caution when interacting with links they share with their contacts and groups, without the risk of revealing information contained in link preview.

Currently, when a user enters a link into the chat bar, WhatsApp automatically generates a preview of that link. This preview includes the title of the webpage, a brief description, and a thumbnail image resulting in exposing typical information before the recipient even clicks on the link.

But now with this new option, users will be able to manage whether the app automatically generates link previews, enhancing their privacy and security experience. It means users can keep this link preview enabled or disabled based on their individual preferences and concerns.

However, the new privacy feature which lets users disable link previews is currently under development and it will be available in the future for users with the future update of WhatsApp.
