Samsung Galaxy S24 Series brought an outstanding feature called Instant Slow-mo and it will be available to more Galaxy devices including Galaxy S23 Series, Galaxy Tab S9 Series, and fifth-generation foldable phones with the rollout of Android 14-based One UI 6.1 software update.

FYI, the South Korean tech giant will begin the expansion of Galaxy AI features to eligible Galaxy devices from tomorrow and it will gradually reach all the models. Before the cutting-edge features of the Galaxy S24 series make their way to your Galaxy device, let’s explore one of the prominent One UI 6.1 Instant Slow-mo.

Instant Slow-mo is a feature that allows users to slow down high-action videos once they’ve already captured them on their Galaxy devices. Instant Slow-mo does this by intelligently generating additional frames based on movements in the video to create a smooth and detailed slow-motion effect.

Instant Slow-Mo supports 8-bit MP4 videos, from 720p to 4K resolution. Samsung plans to expand this compatibility to include 10-bit videos, 480p resolution, and .MOV files. Below you can check the steps on how you can slow down the video that you have already recorded on your Galaxy phone.

  • Firstly, launch the Gallery app on your Galaxy device and open the video on which you want to add a slow-motion effect.
  • Now find the exact area where you want to add a slow-mo effect and adjust Slow Motion Speed and End-Points.
  • Once done, tap the Play button to preview it. You can make any other edits if you want to.
  • To permanently slow down the video, tap Save at the top-right corner and choose Save again to confirm.

Note that, you can always re-edit the video and tap Revert to the original even after you’ve saved it as a slow-motion clip. Simultaneously, if you want to create a separate copy of the slow-motion effect without affecting the original video, then tap on Save > Save as Copy.
