Samsung is rumored to launch its first affordable foldable phone in 2024, and it looks like Huawei will also come up with a budget-friendly foldable to bring the segment to mainstream and accessible for all.

According to Digitimes, affordable foldable phones from Samsung and Huawei are coming in the second half of 2024. The arrival of a pair of foldable phones from tech giants will create a clash in the market, at least in China.

The report says that both companies want to make foldable phones more popular among the public. Both Samsung and Huawei will likely debut book-type foldable phones, rather than the already affordable clamshell-type.

Samsung’s affordable foldable is said to use a UTG (ultrathin glass) cover, making it more durable than Huawei’s. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE could be available in certain markets, with production of 300,000 units likely.
