Samsung appears to be working on a 200MP ISOCELL HP9 camera for Vivo X100 Ultra. Rumors circulating on China’s Weibo suggest that the Vivo X100 Ultra could debut an ultra-thin periscope camera with a 200-megapixel resolution.

Weibo leaker DigitalChatStation found that Samsung is developing a 200MP ISOCELL HP9 sensor with model number S5KHP9. It could be a custom image sensor being developed for the upcoming flagship of Chinese manufacturer Vivo.

The tipster said that the sensor’s specs are “quite good,” and “it can be used for both primary and secondary cameras” he added. Earlier, the same source disclosed that the Vivo X100 Ultra has an ultra-thin camera module, while the periscope is neither HP3 nor HP5.

Samsung brought a new 50MP 5x solution to Galaxy S24 Ultra this year. Chinese vendors are setting an aggressive benchmark for the Galaxy maker. Using Samsung’s 200MP periscope in its X100 Ultra, Vivo is about to join the most advanced mobile camera battle.

Vivo has already released X100 and X100 Pro smartphones in key markets. Reports say that the X100 Ultra could soon be introduced in the market, however, it would be interesting to see whether Vivo brings it to the Global market or keeps it limited to Chinese territory.
