Samsung Galaxy S21 Green Line Display

Samsung India extended a free display replacement program to Galaxy S22 Ultra, S21 series, S20 series, and Note 20 series. Even if your phone is out of warranty, the company will replace its affected screen, battery, and rework kit, with the program running for a limited period.

Recently, some Galaxy S22 and S21 users complained that the April 2024 update brought a green line issue on display. Reports are appearing from different regions but Samsung India confirmed to offer one-time free screen replacement within three years of purchase.

As of April 2024, Samsung users having Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy Note 20 series with the green line problem can get free replacements. We hope the screen replacement program should be extended to Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S21 FE.

Pay attention, authorized Samsung service centers are offering it until April 30, 2024. Previously, the program was limited to Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. As newer flagships are also getting affected by this unwanted hardware defect, the company is willing to support them.

Green Line Issue

It’s an OLED defect, which causes thin vertical green lines on the screen. Users often claim it happened because of installing a newer software update on Exynos devices. Apart from Samsung, select OnePlus phones are also affected by the issue.

In addition to this, some messages frequently pop up on the screen, showing “An unknown error has occurred” or stating that the video codec is not supported. This issue is not limited to Video playback but extends to Video calls.

Users of Galaxy smartphones are not able to see the other person’s video feed. Even third-party applications are affected, with videos failing to play properly.

The Samsung community moderator has mentioned that it has been found that these video playback issues are linked to a codec error in the Samsung phone. Some videos cause these errors, while others may play normally after a restart. However, the affected videos will continue to cause issues.
