Samsung responds as iFixit breaks Galaxy repair ties

iFixit announced the end of its Samsung collaboration. The company’s CEO Kyle Wiens stated to TheVerge that the price of parts is the biggest reason for parting ways. Samsung also issued its response via AndroidAuthority assuring Galaxy consumers about easy repairs.

Kyle claims that iFixit has been unable to secure official parts for the newest Samsung devices like the Galaxy S23, Z Flip 5, and Z Fold 5. The Galaxy maker has reportedly offered parts through Encompass, kicking out iFixit from parts availability.

In a recent development, Samsung confirmed to continue offering Galaxy repair parts through its official parts website powered by Encompass. The website mentioned by the company currently does not list smartphone repair parts as a category.

Samsung’s response to the breakup with iFixit:

Samsung is committed to providing quality, accessible device care to our customers with flexible options to suit their needs, including walk-in, mail-in, and “We Come to You” services. For people who would like to take advantage of our self-repair program, we offer Samsung-certified parts, tools, and information for our qualified products in one easy place: SamsungParts.com, powered by Encompass. We’re proud of the work we’ve done together with iFixit. We can’t comment further on partnership details at this time.

As iFixit officially parting ways from Samsung, we will see rapid developments on the parts website. Currently, it is curated for appliances like washing machines, TVs, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, and more. However, manual searches load relevant results for phones too.
