Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 to miss faster Wi-Fi 7 tech: FCC

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 might lack the advanced Wi-Fi 7 technology. FCC certification of Samsung’s next clamshell foldable phone confirms the lack of flagship hardware. It’s not the first time when the company’s Flip phone to miss out on the necessary hardware.

According to FCC certification, Samsung is not bringing faster Wi-Fi 7 hardware to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The company brought this tech to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, released earlier this year, but it won’t be expanding to the next-gen foldable phones.

SamMobile reports that the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus use Wi-Fi 7 chip, but Samsung artificially disabled it. The reason was to maintain the functionalities between Snapdragon and Exynos variants as the latter supports Wi-Fi chips up to Wi-Fi 6E.

Similarly, the Korean tech giant may disable the Wi-Fi 7 chip at a firmware/software level. This means the next-gen foldables might bring the latest hardware but not benefit consumers. We guess the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might support Wi-Fi 7, the same way as the S24 Ultra does.

Previous reports revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 will be equipped with a Snapdragon chipset. The company is unlikely to expand the Exynos chip to its foldable segment to maintain relations with Qualcomm. Reports say Unnpacked might be held in July in Paris.
