Samsung Galaxy S24 was the best selling AI phone in Q1 2024: Counterpoint

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series equipped with Galaxy AI. Recently, Counterpoint Research published their study, revealing the Galaxy S24 series was the best-selling AI phone in the first quarter of 2024.

According to the report, the Galaxy S24 series, launched by Samsung earlier this year, dominated the GenAI-capable smartphone market in Q1. It’s worth noting that GenAI-capable smartphones contributed 6% to global smartphone sales in Q1 2024.

In particular, the Galaxy S24 Ultra was the world’s best-selling Generative AI-capable phone, security 30% share. The other two variants of the lineup are also doing well, thanks to the company’s aggressive marketing campaign highlighting the Galaxy AI.

Apart from Samsung’s Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, Xiaomi 14 and vivo X100 models ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Counterpoint Research’s report mentions that Chinese brands collectively captured six positions in the top-10 list.

The presence of Chinese brands grew due to the aggressive integration of Generative AI features like generated portraits, AI eraser tools, and robust offline virtual assistants. Researchers at Counterpoint GenAI-capable smartphones will contribute 11% of the overall smartphone market in 2024.
