Samsung might get 2nm Snapdragon orders from Qualcomm in the future. In a recent development, Qualcomm’s CEO expressed his intention toward a dual-sourcing strategy for Snapdragon processors. It might result in a big win for Samsung Foundry in the future.

According to BusinessKorea, Qualcomm’s Cristiano revealed consideration of a dual-sourcing production strategy with both TSMC and Samsung. The response came to a journalist’s question regarding the risks of relying solely on TSMC.

The report highlights that the Snapdragon team internally appreciates the 2nm process technology of Samsung. There are discussions related to the diversification of production between South Korea’s Samsung Electronics and Taiwan’s TSMC in the future.

Previous reports revealed that the US tech giant might give Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 orders to Samsung as well. The company might manufacture the “for Galaxy” variant of the processor, which will be used in Galaxy S and Z series smartphones coming in 2026.

Cristiano Amon said that he has seriously considered collaborating with Samsung on their foundry services for semiconductor manufacturing. Amon supported business scope with TSMC and Samsung for Snapdragon processors’ production.

“The current focus must be on the foundry production at TSMC, but it will likely require significant effort to have one company handle both aspects,” Amon stated.
