Samsung has recently announced the expansion of Galaxy AI-powered Live Translate feature. Now, reports coming out from South Korea indicate that KakaoTalk app will also gain support for Samsung’s Galaxy AI Live Translate feature with One UI 6.1.1.

According to the report, Samsung’s Live Translate coming to KakaoTalk with One UI 6.1.1. The company will further optimize Galaxy AI for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. The foldable phones will come pre-installed with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1.

Live Translate is an on-device AI feature that offers live translation of multiple languages. It enables real-time translations during phone calls, while Chat Assist offers contextually relevant suggestions to help users perfect conversations.

The South Korean tech giant believes that Live Translate’s expansion will allow users to conveniently communicate in multiple languages using various apps with real-time translation, breaking down language barriers when meeting friends while traveling.

“We plan to extend the Galaxy AI real-time translation feature not only to Samsung apps, but also to various third-party messaging apps that support voice calling,” wrote Samsung’s Choi Won-joon, head of the research and development of smartphone business.

As for KakaoTalk, the company released a separate statement (via KoreaJoongAngDaily) that KakaoTalk will have access to the AI features. As Galaxy AI’s Live Translate feature works through on-device AI, users would not need to worry about privacy breaches.
