Samsung just confirmed Galaxy AI Live Translate feature will expand beyond the native Phone app. The company revealed that other third-party apps and services will gain support for Live Translate, powered by Galaxy AI. It’s expected to happen with the One UI 6.1.1 update.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 will debut One UI 6.1.1, based on Android 14. It will be Samsung’s first big upgrade after the introduction of Galaxy AI earlier this year. The company’s executive also hinted that many more exciting features will come next month.

Live Translate 2.0?

Samsung is extending the power of Galaxy AI beyond its native calling app by expanding Live Translate to other third-party message apps to support voice calls. So you can stay in contact with friends or colleagues, communicating on your favorite apps in multiple languages.

Live Translate might be available on the most popular apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram. Being an on-device AI-powered feature, Live Translate won’t require internet or cloud support. Users will also not have to worry about their conversation’s privacy.

Samsung’s Won-Joon Choi expects that more and more mobile AI features will be incorporated inside mobile devices as the intelligent computing power of the latest chips — particularly NPUs — advances at a blazing fast speed, along with other technologies.
