Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 packs AMOLED cover, IPS screen rumor is fake

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 may not ditch the AMOLED cover screen. The recently leaked specs sheet mentioned IPS cover display rather than AMOLED. It created a big question over Samsung’s decision to bring such a disappointing downgrade to its premium phone.

Well, Samsung isn’t degrading the Galaxy Z Flip 6 by ditching the AMOLED cover screen. SamMobile reports that the company’s next Flip phone won’t get an IPS LCD. Rather, it is expected to have the same panel used in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in size and resolution.

The Z Flip 5 sports a 3.4-inch cover display in a folder-like shape and a 60Hz refresh rate. Previously, it was rumored that the cover panel would have a higher refresh rate, which doesn’t seem to be happening. Samsung may have reserved this upgrade for the future Flip phone.

This year’s Flip phone could bring a new 50-megapixel primary camera. The phone will also have a larger battery with 4,000 mAh capacity – 300 mAh larger than the Flip 5. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy will power all the Z Flip 6 units internationally.

Samsung will also debut its new Android 14-based One UI iteration – One UI 6.1.1. It will further upgrade the Galaxy AI with new features and enhancements. S Pen-powered devices will have additional advantages with the features derived from artificial intelligence.
