Nvidia could soon certify Samsung HBM3e memory chip, with supply starting in Q3. The chip maker reportedly denied the approval. Meanwhile, multiple Taiwanese outlets (via TrendForce) report that the certification process will take place soon.

According to the info, Nvidia could soon provide certification to Samsung HBM3e memory semiconductor. In this regard, some of Samsung’s supply chain partners have recently received info to place orders and reserve capacity ASAP.

This development hints that Samsung’s HBM may begin shipments in the second half of the year. As semiconductor vendors reportedly shifted at least 20-30% of their production capacity to HBM DDR5 prices would rise in Q3.

The Korean tech giant will likely confirm the certification by Nvidia at the upcoming financial report meeting later this month. Memory manufacturers will relocate at least 20-30% of their production capacity.

Samsung’s initial plan to pass NVIDIA’s certification in Q2 was delayed. Given the delay in approval, the company fell behind SK Hynix and Micron. At the same time, lower-than-expected production yields led some vendors to be concerned about a shortage of HBM3e 8hi materials.

HBM memory chip demand continues to rise following the AI market boom. It’s a key component at data centers and servers. As Samsung Foundry is facing yield-related issues, Nvidia supply would bring a significant boost to its memory chip business.
