At CES 2024, Samsung announced its partnership with Tesla for Solar and Powerwall products. In a recent development, Samsung revealed that Tesla Energy customers can now manage their home’s energy usage, storage, and production from the SmartThings app.

Samsung SmartThings will now display the Tesla Powerwall, Tesla Solar Inverter, and Tesla Wall Connector’s energy production, storage, and usage-related info. This AI-powered integration level ups your experience and product performance in many ways.

Paired with Tesla products, the SmartThings app will offer increased energy insights, smart energy management, and better prepare for power outages. So no more ado, integrate your Tesla sustainability products with AI-powered SmartThings application.

How to connect Tesla in SmartThings

1. Download and Install the latest Tesla and SmartThings.

2. Connect Your Tesla Site(s) to SmartThings

  • Navigate to the SmartThings main screen and tap the “Life” icon.
  • Navigate to the SmartThings Energy card.
  • Select the ⋮ symbol at the top right of your screen.
  • Select “Link to Partners.”
  • Click on the Tesla Energy icon and connect the accounts.

Automation and Notification

SmartThings also allows you to create automation rules for your Tesla products. It helps you reduce power when the Powerwall switches to Off-Grid mode or prioritizing charging for maximum backup power.

You can activate Storm Watch and Off-Grid notifications. Samsung’s SmartThings will then notify you if a storm is forecasted for your area or if your site(s) go off-grid. This feature will help you avoid using high-energy devices in case of atmospheric obstacles.
