Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 fail to outpace their predecessors in pre-orders. A report reveals that the new foldable phones recorded 10% fewer pre-orders than last year, with the popularity heavily among people in their 20s and 30s.

TheElec reports that pre-orders of Samsung’s new foldable models declined by 10% compared to 2023. The South Korean tech giant revealed yesterday that pre-order sales were 910,000 units from July 12 to 18.

Half of the entire pre-order joiners are from the age group 20 to 40, with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 selling 60% and the rest being the Z Fold 6’s. Samsung’s Silver Shadow shade selling most among others in both models.

Over the last seven days, the company conducted pre-orders through the official platform and three Korean carriers. Meanwhile, the pre-order volume fell short of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip and Fold models which was 1.02 million units.

On July 10, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 in Paris. The devices are scheduled to be released internationally on July 24. These are the company’s first Gemini Nano-powered handsets featuring on-device AI capabilities.

Despite bringing many fruitful upgrades, a wider cover, and an improved rear camera, the foldables didn’t sell well in the pre-order period in South Korea. It signals a declining interest among shoppers in the foldable segment even in Korea.

This year, Samsung silently raised the price of both foldables by $100 in the US and other markets. Korean models are also affected by the price hike, which may have resulted in decreased pre-orders due to their already heavy pricing.
