Expert RAW is a camera app specifically designed for Samsung flagship devices to provide RAW files for professional photography and post-editing. The app allows users to capture high-quality HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos and provides enhanced editing capabilities for more detailed adjustments. Notably, the Samsung Expert RAW app supports limited Galaxy devices.

Samsung integrated the Expert RAW app into the stock camera with One UI 5.1, making it easily accessible. Users of eligible devices can access it by selecting More Options within the camera mode. The Korean tech giant regularly updates the app to introduce new features and improvements.

Previously, the Samsung Z Flip series didn’t support the Expert RAW, however, with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, this has changed. The Expert RAW feature is now supported on this new model, and future smartphones in the Flip series will also offer this camera capability.

Samsung Expert RAW mode gives photography enthusiasts full control over settings like ISO, shutter speed, white balance, exposure, and focus. This control enables more professional-level photography.

In addition, it uses multi-frame processing to reduce noise, enhance clarity and detail, and capture more information across different brightness levels in a single photo.

When you shoot in Expert RAW mode on your camera, it saves two types of files – a JPEG and a RAW (Linear DNG 16-bit). JPEG files are compressed to save space, while RAW files contain uncompressed data directly from the camera sensor. This uncompressed data allows for more detailed editing using post-processing software.
