Samsung isn’t copying Apple’s Dynamic Island in One UI 7. A rumor floated yesterday claiming the arrival of Samsung’s version of Dynamic Island in the next One UI version. Things may be something different but Galaxy users would rejoice.

IceUniverse revealed that Dynamic Island isn’t included in One UI 7. Rather, Samsung has added more functionalities to the Status bar pill (ellipse icon). The pill that currently shows call duration will indicate even more functions across the OS.

The tipster added that the status bar pill will support a timer/countdown and recording indicator. More apps and functions would be integrated with the ellipse icon to function, but it’s not as dynamic as Apple’s Dynamic Island functionality.

Commenting on the leaked info, concept creator Vetrox360 shared a handful of concept images. The concept comprises of status bar pill that became dynamic and functions somewhat like Apple’s Dynamic Island.

The tipster mentioned “Samsung makes your dream come true,” giving confirmation of the look and feel. The status bar pill won’t be larger than the current pill, which indicates the duration of ongoing calls on Galaxy devices.

Beyond the default Green color, the pill may support dynamic colors. Similar to the app icons color and appearance, the pill could be optimized. For instance, the Recorder app carries a Red-colored app icon, so the pill would turn Red(ish).

Samsung may start the One UI 7 Beta Program next week. The company had managed to commence the Beta Program in August in the last two years. Google will also release the official Android 15 for Pixel devices by the end of next month.

In the initial phase, this year’s Galaxy S24 series will join the Beta Program. The Korean tech giant will sequentially expand the device availability and eligible countries. We guess the Beta Program to open in China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, UK and the US.
