Samsung faces backlash over poor battery performance in Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Plugin September 2024 update

Samsung is facing criticism over the poor battery performance of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. Countless user complaints appeared of excessive battery consumption in the latest Galaxy smartwatches.

This comes on the heels of quality concerns surrounding the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. It’s the second time in a row, putting the South Korean tech giant’s product reliability under scrutiny.

This battery controversy of the latest Galaxy Watch models, coupled with recent quality issues in Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, has raised concerns about the company’s quality control and potentially damaged brand trust.

“After purchasing the Watch 7, the battery is depleting by 10% every hour. This persists even after resetting, backing up, and allowing the device to learn usage patterns,” a user posted on Samsung Community.

Another user stated, “After charging to 100% and turning off Bluetooth, the battery was at 25% after just 7 hours of sleep tracking.”

Just recently, the company released the first firmware for the new wearables. The update aims to address battery drain and performance-related issues. However, the software seemingly made things worse rather than fixing bugs.

Some users reported new problems post-update, including device overheating and reduced battery life on previously unaffected units. The effectiveness of the fix remains uncertain, warranting further observation.

One frustrated consumer recounted, “When I visited the service center about the battery issue, an engineer advised me to turn off health-related features and Bluetooth. What’s the point of a smartwatch if you have to disable its core functions?”

During the Unpacked, Samsung promoted battery life improvements in the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. Battery life is crucial for wearable devices, as longer usage times between charges link with higher user satisfaction.

The company claimed up to 30 hours of battery life with AOD activated and up to 40 hours with AOD disabled. Meanwhile, consumers are hardly getting 12 hours of battery life, which can be slightly extended by disabling AOD.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Way back in 2020, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. A new rumor about prototype hints at the return of the Note 20’s design in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The claim is for one of the five prototypes of Samsung’s next flagship.

According to the rumor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra could have Note 20 vibes. Not the Note 20 Ultra as it boasts a curved screen and sharp corners. The S25 Ultra could have a flat display, an in-built S Pen, and slightly reduced corners.

Recent rumors hint that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could get a Note 20-inspired design. It doesn’t mean the camera sensors will be placed on a rectangular island on the backplate. The sensor arrangement will be as per the signature design.

Samsung’s Note 20 series was iconic on its own, which became the last Note lineup. The company kept the S Pen functionality alive by expanding it to S Ultra and Z Fold models. However, the next year’s model promises some major design refinements.

The rumor says that Samsung has five test devices (prototype) for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The nearly final prototype, which may enter mass production, is closer to the Note 20. It “leaves a strong impression” suggesting an elegant design decision.

Samsung recently launched its latest foldable smartphones. The company is preparing to introduce a new Fan Edition – Galaxy S24 FE next month. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to be announced in early January 2025.

The S25 Ultra could get a 6.8-inch flat sAMOED screen, 200-megapixel camera, and S Pen support. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy, which is said to outperform Apple’s new A18 Pro processor.

The rumor aligns with the collection of rumors floated online. Slightly rounded corners and flat display decisions are already rumored. The frame may be quite thin and angular, offering an iPhone like appearance hand handling.

Samsung Galaxy M55s

Samsung will soon launch the Galaxy M55s in India. The company has recently listed the smartphone on its support website. The listing indicates that the handset is all set to make its official debut in the Indian market.

Major e-commerce in India, Amazon and Flipkart, revealed their festive sale. The Galaxy M55s could be an Amazon-exclusive product, with availability could start later this month. Amazon’s Big Billion Days sale kicks off on September 27, 2024.

Samsung support listed the unreleased Galaxy M55s 5G. The website showcases the phone’s 8GB RAM alongside a link to warranty information. There’s no mention of any other specifications or design graphics, but we’ve met them earlier.

Back in July, it was revealed that the Korean tech giant is working on an “s” variant of the Galaxy M55. Judging from the previous A52s, it was assumed that the M55s could feature an even more powerful processor than the M55 5G.

However, the company could be introducing a unique design. The Galaxy M55s renders revealed a three-part texture design on the backplate. It could be available in a Green colorway alongside the standard Graphite/Black hue.

It will be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 – the same as the M55 5G. Later on, Samsung could also announce a 12GB RAM model of the Galaxy M55s. It’s highlighting specifications include support for 45W fast charging and a 50-megapixel selfie camera.
