Apple and Samsung devices occupied the world’s top 10 best-selling smartphone chart in Q2 2024. Galaxy A15 5G was the most-selling Samsung and Android phone from April to June. Counterpoint revealed exciting market research data in their recent report.

Samsung’s Galaxy A15 5G was the world’s fourth best-selling handset. The same phone’s 4G variant ranked fifth on the chart. Together both variants were the most sold Android handsets internationally.

Apple and Samsung dominated the top-10 best-selling phones list in Q2 2024. Both firms grabbed 9 spots, while Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C secured 8th rank. This was down one spot from Q2 2023 when the two brands had captured all 10 spots.

The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 15 Pro took the top three spots, respectively. The iPhone 14 could only manage the sixth spot. Apple retained the number of spots but the placement of iPhones on the list weakened.

Last year, Galaxy S23 Ultra was the 8th best-selling phone, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra slipped to 9th spot this year. It’s due to a relatively early launch of the flagship that shifted some of the sales to the first quarter of the year.

Samsung’s Galaxy A55 5G, which is priced at the higher end of the mid-tier segment and comes with some interesting security features, took the seventh spot. The Galaxy A05, another lower-end model, captured the 10th spot.

A large part of the Chinese market lost by Apple has gone to Huawei. As the number of Generative AI smartphones increases, Counterpoint researchers expect the continuation of a sustained long-term trend toward premiumization.
