Samsung revealed fans had a front-row seat experience as Galaxy S24 Ultra is installed on each boat. Fans experienced the race as if they were alongside their favorite athletes — battling the elements together in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

The Korean firm enforced optimized software to support filming and transmitting this first-of-its-kind footage in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), and other Olympic partners.

Galaxy S24 Ultra phones were installed on the boats used in the sailing events.

As a result, Samsung managed to allow fans to immerse themselves in the Olympic sailing competition. For kitesurfing and windsurfing, Galaxy smartphones were attached to each athlete’s shoulder and buoys in the water.

Samsung says optimizing the software for this kind of footage took months of research and development.  The company has closely collaborated with the OBS and other Olympic tech partners to guarantee video quality and connectivity performance.

The challenges have been addressed by leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s OIS features, increasing transmission power, and installing relay towers on the chase boat to ensure a seamless livestream experience for viewers.

In line with the 2024 Paris Olympics vision of a “Games Wide Open,” Samsung is dedicated to bringing a more immersive experience to fans around the world. The company has also distributed thousands of Galaxy Z Flip 6 to athletes.
