Verizon Galaxy S22, S20 FE get August 2024 security update in the US

Verizon is releasing the August 2024 security update for Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE smartphones in the US. The update installs the latest Android security patch to improve system security and stability.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S20 FE users are getting an August 2024 security update on the Verizon network with One UI build version S90xUSQS6EXG8 and G781VSQSGHXG1 respectively.

Notably, Samsung has already rolled out the August 2024 security update for the Galaxy S20 FE update on the AT&T network carrier and the Galaxy S22 series in Europe and the US. The company will make this update available for all models in the coming days or weeks.

August 2024 security patch contains the Security Maintenance Release (SMR), combining patches from Google and Samsung. Google addresses 1 critical, 34 high-level vulnerabilities in Android, although 2 are irrelevant to Galaxy devices.

Samsung has also addressed 14 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) to strengthen device security further. These vulnerabilities mainly impact components such as system service, Knox services, Galaxy Watch, and more.

To check the update, you just need to navigate to the device’s Settings, then a Software update, and Download and install. If you have received the update, install it now to get enhanced features.

As of now, Samsung is working to start the One UI 7 Beta Program for Galaxy devices. However, the company confirmed to release of the stable version in October 2024 at SDC. Samsung Galaxy S22 series is eligible for this major update while Galaxyy S20 FE will no longer receive any major One UI updates.
