Samsung Galaxy S20 series starts getting August 2024 security update

Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones are getting the August 2024 security update. The update is currently rolling out in some European countries including Switzerland.

The latest security update includes the August 2024 security patch, which fixes over 45 security issues, including 1 critical and 34 high-level vulnerabilities from Google. Notably, 1 CVE was previously resolved in earlier updates, and 2 CVEs are not applicable to Galaxy devices.

Moreover, the update contains fixes for 14 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) specific to Samsung devices and apps. This includes improvements to system services, Knox services, Galaxy Watch, and other related components.

August 2024 security update for Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy s20 Ultra smartphones can be verified through One UI build versions ending with HXG1. It is an initial rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all models.

You can also check the update by visiting the Settings app on your smartphone and opening the Software Update section. Now, click on the Download and install option. If any update is available, you can follow the on-screen instructions to install the update on your Galaxy smartphone.
