Your Samsung phone getting Siri-like glowing Gemini AI panel

Gemini AI assistant is getting a Siri-like glowing overlay panel. Google is currently rolling out the new Gemini glow animation to Android phones. You may also notice the revamped experience while activating Gemini on your Samsung Galaxy.

The Gemini AI assistant interface introduces a glowing animation, which surrounds the panel. We’ve seen a similar animation around the screen corners in Apple’s latest iOS version that appears when the assistant is activated.

During the Pixel 9 unveil, Google showcased many changes to Gemini in the pipeline. Gemini Live is a pretty big surprise, but visual tweaks are always welcomed. Besides the new glow animation, Gemini also added a new contextual overlay.

Gemini’s new contextual overlay understands what you’re up to without taking over your whole screen. Notably, the company first teased this contextual overlay at the I/O 2024 that enables on-screen response rather than switching to Gemini.

Adding to this, Gemini also added a new “Ask about this video” chip, replacing the previous “Ask about this screen” prompt. It lets you request summaries or pose follow-up questions about the video’s content on YouTube.

Do note that the rollout is happening gradually, meaning you won’t immediately get it. It appears to be a server-side rollout so an app update isn’t required. However, keep your phone’s Google and Gemini apps updated to get it at the earliest.
