Samsung rethinks ASML partnership
Samsung is reportedly planning to lessen its procurement of next-gen ASML EUV equipment. In addition, Samsung-ASML’s joint plan to build a research and development center in South Korea may also be unfinished.
BusinessKorea reports that Samsung will now introduce only the EXE:5200 from ASML. The company will reconsider the introduction of subsequent versions in the future. It was reported that over three versions (EXE:5200, EXE:5400, and EXE:5600) would be purchased.
The shift in Samsung’s strategy came after the appointment of Jun Young-hyun as the new head of the DS Division. The then DS Prez Kyung Kye-hyun is currently leading the Future Business Planning Team and SAIT.
Back in December, Samsung and ASML signed an MOU – agreeing to jointly invest about $7.6 billion to establish a research fab in South Korea.
As the equipment adoption is halted, it remains to be seen whether the joint research center will be established in another location or if the project itself will be canceled.
BusinessKorea citing a Samsung official pointed out that there is no change in the plan to debut ASML High NA EUV equipment and assured that the R&D center of the two companies will still be established in the optimal location.

Updating your Galaxy phone doesn’t include a tricky process. You just need to hit the Download and install button inside the Software update tab within Settings. If available, the firmware will first download, enabling a restart button for completion.

Samsung has pushed an Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones in Korea. It is an initial rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all models.
Users of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphones are getting One UI 6.1.1 update with builds F731NTCU3DXHA and F946NKSU3DXH9 respectively.
One UI 6.1.1 update offers several enhancements to provide a better Galaxy experience. It features Galaxy AI’s Sketch Conversion for artwork creation, improved Portrait Enhancements, and text auto-completion in Samsung Keyboard.
Users can now access real-time translation for calls and text in images, convert voice to text, manage PDFs more efficiently, and utilize dynamic wallpapers. This update also incorporates the September 2024 security patch.
Aside from this, it brings the Auto Zoon feature and the ability to shoot like a camcorder with Flex Cam to Galaxy Z Flip 6. It also supports HDR video format for the Insta Slow-mo feature in Gallery app.
To check the update, you just need to navigate to the device’s Settings, then a Software update, and Download and install. If you have received the update, install it now to get enhanced features.
