Samsung will make AI-optimized display in the future
Samsung official hinted at the development of AI-optimized display panels. The company is working to reduce the power consumption of displays and AI is anticipated to play a key role in improving power efficiency in the future.
TheElec reports Samsung announced its plan to reduce display power consumption to less than half the current level using AI. At the IMID opening ceremony, Samsung Display’s Lee Cheong delivered a keynote speech teasing a major technological breakthrough.
Samsung is exploring new ways to eliminate all factors affecting the panel’s efficiency. The company also considering replacing existing technologies. In the future, AI-optimized displays will debut with greatly reduced consumption.
Lee expressed his expectation that “in the near future, we will be able to reduce panel power consumption to less than half the current level and secure additional power for AI.”
The Korean display maker also developed the world’s first display tech, which can achieve the same performance without using polarizing films that are commonly found in all displays, improving power consumption by over 30%.
In addition, Samsung D unveiled Multi Frequency Driving tech, which reduces power consumption by applying various frequencies selectively. It’s a representative OLED technology that also utilizes a tandem structure to double the luminous efficiency.
The utilization of images and videos will increase significantly in the future. As artificial intelligence is making a big boom in our everyday lives, we will prefer more intuitive ways rather than a conventional text conversation.
Accordingly, Samsung Display plans to make panels more efficient. Low power consumption that does not require charging for at least a day is aimed. We will see the utilization of next-gen AI-optimized OLED displays in the next few years.
On November 19, Google dropped the Android 16 Developer Preview. It’s a very initial development stage of the new Android version. Samsung Galaxy devices may receive the new Android 16-based One UI (8) update in the second half of 2025.

Samsung is likely to work on a new feature for its TVs called Color Booster Pro. The company recently (November 15, 2024) filed a trademark for the name, which suggests it might be an upgraded version of its current Color Booster feature.
Currently, Color Booster is available on some Samsung smart TVs. It allows users to make the colors on their screen brighter and more vivid, especially red and blue tones.
The trademark application covers chips and software used to improve the image quality of TVs, monitors, and digital signs. While details are still unclear, there are a few possibilities for what the Color Booster Pro feature could be.
There might be one possibility that Samsung may just want to protect the name Color Booster Pro to make sure no one else can use it. Another possibility is that the company might rename the current Color Booster feature to Color Booster Pro without changing it too much.
If Samsung is working on an advanced version for the version of the Color Booster then it could be the most possibility. It might give users more options to fine-tune the picture quality to allow for more control than the current Low and High settings.
We might see Color Booster Pro in select 2025 TV models possibly along with a new version of its Tizen operating system, only if Samsung moves forward with this.
While nothing is certain yet, this trademark filing shows that Samsung is thinking about ways to improve how users can adjust their TV’s picture settings. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Color Booster Pro becomes a real feature.
