Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: 3x Telephoto Camera Upgrade in Doubt?
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may not boast an upgraded 3x Telephoto camera. It was previously reported that the device could get a 50MP 3x Telephoto. However, the latest input suggests no changes in 3x sensor aspects.
IceUniverse reports Samsung could use a 10MP 3x Telephoto camera in Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Telephoto sensor will accompany the 200MP primary camera, 50MP 5x Periscope, and a new 50MP ultrawide sensor.
The tipster claims the 3x IMX754 Telephoto is from Sony. The company ditched 10x Periscope in favor of a 5x solution in the S24 Ultra. 3x sensor remaining unchanged is somewhat more satisfactory than any other kind of downgrade.
Galaxy S25 Ultra camera specifications have been confirmed.
The only upgrade is the ultra-wide-angle sensor, 50MP 0.7um ISOCELL JN3 sensor, the main camera 200MP HP2 (small process upgrade model unchanged), 3x is still 10MP IMX754, 5x is still IMX854 50MP 0.7 um— ICE UNIVERSE (@UniverseIce) September 9, 2024
The same source claimed to have “confirmed” camera specifications of the next Ultra. It is said that the ultrawide sensor is the only upgrade. The primary 200MP HP2, 10MP IMX754 3x Telephoto, and 50MP IMX864 5x Periscope are the same as S24 Ultra.
It looks like the company has reserved the 3x Telephoto upgrade for a future model. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with an upgraded ultrawide sensor. The 5x Periscope debuted in the Galaxy S24 Ultra only last year, which isn’t much old.
The Galaxy S25 series will likely be launched in January 2025. The lineup will have three modes: Standard, Plus and Ultra. We are hearing about design changes in the Ultra variant, which would be a welcome change that was anticipated for years.
