Samsung could introduce a 6 Android OS and a 6-year security updates policy. This information comes right from leaked promo material of an upcoming Galaxy. The $200 Samsung phone supports 6 Android OS and 6-year security updates.

TheTechOutlook revealed alleged promo images of the Galaxy A15 5G. The material disclosed specifications and key features. The aspect that caught my attention is the promise of 6 Android OS and 6-year security updates.

One of the images compares Galaxy A16 5G’s enhanced software support. The Galaxy A15 5G is guaranteed to receive 4 years of OS and security updates. Meanwhile, Samsung is seemingly unstoppable in the software updates game.

The Korean tech giant has recently launched the Galaxy A06 smartphone. The Galaxy A16 5G could debut in December this year. In the meantime, the Galaxy S24 FE will also be released, with a possible launch expected in October.

I guess the Galaxy S24 FE would get 7 years of update support. Samsung could make it 6 OS and 6 years of security updates for the mid-range phones. The official confirmation is yet to arrive, which could validate the leaked material.

The longer software support is always a welcome move. Well, a question arises on the compatibility and acceptance of hardware. Chipsets are getting more and more powerful with each generation, with functionalities requiring more resources.

Rather than upscaling the software support, Samsung should work on hardware upgrades. In my opinion, consumers don’t think much about longer updates. The immediate impression should be nice and beating rival brands such as Xiaomi.

If Samsung confirms a 6-year (OS and security) update plan, the Galaxy A16 5G and later models would be compatible. The list could include Galaxy A36 5G, Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy M36 5G and Galaxy M56 5G.
