Samsung Galaxy S25 series could use Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Qualcomm apparently renamed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to Snapdragon 8 Elite. It comes as the second segment is renamed within three years.

It is heavily inspired by Qualcomm’s recently released Snapdragon X Elite. As the Oryon CPU is expanding to mobile AP, the naming scheme is also altered. The processor is set to power most of the Android flagships coming in the next few months.

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 888 chip in December 2022. The company later debuted Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as a successor to the Snapdragon 888. Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 was also launched in mid-term for select flagships.

The US chip giant continued its naming strategy till last year. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powers various 2024 flagship phones. However, the successor won’t be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, as a rename to Snapdragon 8 Elite is almost confirmed.

Snapdragon X Elite is the most powerful, intelligent, and efficient processor ever created for Windows in its class. It’s packed with intelligent AI capabilities to offer cutting-edge responsiveness, seamless multi-tasking, and more.

Recently, an alleged Galaxy S25 Ultra appeared on Geekbench with the upcoming Snapdragon chip. The device scored 3,069 points in the single-core CPU performance test and 9,080 points in the multi-core CPU performance test.

Later on, an overclocked version was also benchmarked with the Global S25 Ultra model. It features two cores clocked at 4.47GHz and six cores clocked at 3.53GHz. The scores were 3011 and 9706 in single-core and multi-core, respectively.
