The wait is over! Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition launch date. The launch is happening next week, and the company has sent an online invite to all fans. As always, Samsung hasn’t confirmed the upcoming device in the invite post.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition on October 21, 2024. The invite post’s Korea exclusivity hints at the device’s limited availability. However, if the rumors spread so far are true, its China debut is likely.

The South Korean tech giant released the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 in July. To rival Chinese phone makers, the company is entering key markets with a Special Edition of Fold featuring competing specifications.

It is reported that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is just 10.6mm thick. It isn’t thinner than the foldable phones released in China, but a big development in Samsung’s lineup. It is said to be equipped with a 6.5-inch cover and an 8-inch inner display.

To reduce the thickness, Samsung reportedly removed the digitizer from panel. Meanwhile, the S Pen stylus is still supported and we are excited to hear how the company managed to keep this function alive after removing key component.

Samsung could introduce the upcoming foldable as W25 in China. It will be a sequel to the rebranded Galaxy Z Fold 5 in China. Notably, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 hasn’t yet been announced in the Chinese market.

South Korea and China are the biggest markets in terms of foldable adoption. Samsung is eyeing its presence in the world’s largest smartphone market. At present, the company has a negligible share in the market dominated by local vendors.
