YouTube rolling out redesigned miniplayer, user-friendly settings

YouTube miniplayer

YouTube has begun rolling out a new miniplayer and a refreshed settings menu for Android users, following its announcement last week. The update arrives with version 19.41.39, which introduces a sleek design that enhances user experience.

Previously, the miniplayer of YouTube was a simple bar at the bottom of the screen, showing the video title and channel name next to the player. However, the new design looks more like Android’s picture-in-picture feature with a bottom bar that includes play/pause buttons, and options to rewind 10 seconds and skip ahead.

With the revamped design, users can move the miniplayer to any corner of the screen and can even stretch it to fill the entire width of the screen by pinching it out.

To close the miniplayer, you now just need to tap the top-right corner. When exiting the app, the transition to the system PiP is smooth and easy.

In addition to the miniplayer, YouTube has revamped its settings menu with simple outline-style icons for easy navigation. The new design includes section headers like Account, Video and Audio Preferences, Help and Policy, and Developer Preferences (which currently has no options).

Aside from this, YouTube has also announced a Sleep Timer feature, which will be available to everyone soon. However, the expected adjustable playback speed is still not visible.

These new features of YouTube make the user experience more user-friendly and visually appealing. If you have received the latest update, install it now to enjoy a fresh design.
