OnePlus trolling Samsung’s One UI to promote OxygenOS 15
OnePlus yesterday launched its Android 15-based OxygenOS version. During the launch, OnePlus mocked Samsung’s One UI, comparing its animation and system fluency with the newly announced OxygenOS 15 software.
One UI getting trolled over motion fluency isn’t new, with OxygenOS 15 just an addition to the list. Over the past two years, Samsung’s software criticized, specifically for the software’s animation despite having pro-grade hardware.
OnePlus showcased Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 6.1 in its OxygenOS 15 launch video. The phone maker included a pretty short clip (nearly 5 seconds) screening the slow response rate and animations of Samsung’s software.
Samsung could bring customizable animation to Galaxy devices next year. One UI 7 upgrade will make it possible to have Pixel and iPhone-like animations on Galaxy devices, with additional settings will allow you to tweak therefore.
It seems OnePlus is aware of what’s coming out in the One UI 7. Therefore, it used the One UI 6 to present the OxygenOS 15 superior, at least, in terms of animations.
I believe One UI animations should be significantly enhanced, but unusually faster app opening and closing couldn’t be considered a scale of animation and motion fluency.
Galaxy users are eagerly waiting for the Android 15 upgrade for their devices. This year, Samsung has completely overlooked its previous rollout timelines. The Beta is coming later this year, with Stable scheduled for Q1 2025.
The next version will indeed bring welcome transformations to the table. I, personally, don’t fall into the trap of animations. One UI 7 should be known as the most feature-rich Android 15 skin out there beating all opponents.
Today, Samsung released a report on its Global Goals initiatives and application. The report highlights progress in raising awareness of the Global Goals through initiatives like the Samsung Global Goals app and Generation17.
The press release highlights how Generation17 leaders Efe Johnson, Thùy Anh Ngô, and Tafara Makaza are leveraging technology to address challenges such as reproductive health education, care for the elderly, economic mobility, and more.
Samsung reiterated its commitment to the Global Goals as the 2030 deadline for the UN Sustainable Development Goals approaches. Samsung and UNDP together made significant strides in creating real-world impact by prioritizing innovation.
Notably, Samsung’s collaboration with UNDP over the past five years has been a meaningful step in this journey. The company is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a better future for all by 2030 with the Galaxy community.
Samsung Global Goals App
Samsung and UNDP partnered in 2019 to launch the Global Goals app. The motive of this platform is to educate Galaxy users about the 17 Global Goals and allow them to generate donations through in-app ads, using wallpapers and direct contributions.
Samsung missed the opportunity to launch the world’s first tri-fold this year. Huawei launched the Mate XT handset, which features a dual-foldable display. Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the tri-fold phone in 2027.
Korea’s ZDNet reports that Samsung is discussing plans to launch a tri-fold model in 2027. The report also talks about a cheaper Flip device, which could not be released anytime soon as a Samsung official recently denied such a rumor.
Samsung Display has showcased the prototype of the tri-fold on many occasions. Industry insiders also believe that Samsung partners have completed the development of components to be used in the tri-fold model.
That said, Samsung Display partners are fully prepared for the tri-fold to be commercialized. It is up to the smartphone vendor to bring it to the market or keep limited to research labs for further durability evaluations.
Samsung is getting lower-than-expected response from the foldable market. Huawei’s rise has also made things tough for the Korean phone maker. With the release of Tri-fold, the US-banned firm solidified its presence in China.
Notably, Samsung Elec is having trouble in the foldable smartphone market. However, its Display subsidiary is enjoying sales growth as it supplies OLED panels to Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo for their latest foldable display phones.
Well, Samsung D’s growth is expected to be lesser than the last year. The overall shipments are expected to fall short of the initial estimates. China-based BOE is also expanding its footsteps to the mobile display supply chain.
Samsung silently unveiled the Exynos 1580 chipset that will power the Galaxy A56 5G. The new mid-range processor features octa-core central processing units with a peak frequency of 2.9 GHz having Cortex cores.
The new Exynos 1580 aims to revitalize your mobile life with significant enhancements to the CPU, GPU, and NPU. Samsung also mentions premium camera support, indicating an upgraded photography experience on Galaxy A56 5G.
Armv9 cores, Tri-cluster architecture:
The Exynos 1580 upgrades its cores to Armv9 and replaces the previous bi-cluster architecture with a tri-cluster architecture. This lets you run your favorite apps more seamlessly for a longer time with higher security.
The chip has a Cortext-A720x1 core clocked at 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A720x3 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz, and a Cortext-A520x4 core clocked at 1.95 GHz. Samsung’s Exynos 1580 is made using a third-gen 4nm process node.
The enhanced process improves computing performance and power efficiency. The CPU’s optimized structure uses one big core and three middle cores, while the upgraded GPU also improves power efficiency by up to 37% compared to its predecessor.
Xclipse 540 GPU:
Exynos 1580 brings Xclipse 540 GPU. The chipset is also upgraded with AI capabilities, keeping future needs in mind, featuring an AI engine with 6K MAC NPU. Samsung already confirmed more Galaxy AI features coming to the A series.

AI Upgrades:
NPU in Exynos 1580 supports up to 14.7 trillion operations per second (TOPS) with a memory capacity increased to 2 MB. With these tweaks, you can easily access one-line summaries of complex content or image-based translations in real-time.
