TL;DR

  • Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out in Korea within 10 minutes of its first sale on October 25.
  • The sale was delayed by 7 hours, sparking rumors of quality issues, which Samsung denied.
  • Samsung plans to restock, but no specific date for the next sale has been announced.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sparked a frenzy across Korea and sold out within 10 minutes. The company announced that the first stock of the new foldable sold out in less than 10 minutes.

The first Galaxy Z Fold SE sale started on October 25, with a 7-hour delay. There were rumors of quality concerns, which were untrue. Samsung was reportedly conducting a quantity assessment, leading it to open the sale by a few hours.

Within 10 minutes after sales started, Samsung announced that “all available stock has sold out.” The company plans to prepare additional stock and resume sales, however, a specified time hasn’t been disclosed.

Samsung also intended to supply devices to carriers that day but failed to do so given stock shortages. The craze for the Special Edition model is clearly visible and Koreans give a warm welcome to the epic innovation.

Special Edition…

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, at 10.6mm in thickness and 236 grams in weight, is the thinnest and lightest foldable phone from Samsung. It is 1.5 mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was unveiled last July.

Sale Delayed…

On October 21, the South Korean tech giant announced that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition would be sold starting at 9 AM (Korea time). However, the device didn’t go on sale after 9 AM, while sales only began at 4 PM, seven hours later.

A Samsung representative explained, “The delay was due to time needed to assess production quantities and decide on the amount to release.” They denied speculations that sales were delayed due to quality concerns.
