At CES 2024, Google shared amazing updates for Android Auto that aim to improve the experience for electric vehicle (EV) drivers. Some new features have been announced for Android Auto and Automotive.

Android Auto is receiving a new feature to get real-time battery information through Google Maps. This means users can see their car’s battery level as they approach their destination to find the best charging stops along the way. Even it gets estimates for how long charging will take.

This feature is very useful and it will be available for the Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning in the coming months. Google is also bringing apps like PBS Kids and Crunchyroll for Android Auto.

Google has also introduced a Chrome app for Android Automotive, which can be used when vehicles are parked. This beta version of this app currently rolling out to select Polestar and Volvo models. It has a user-friendly interface similar to a tablet and includes a familiar New Tab Page and synced bookmarks.

The company is also planning to offer “Cars with Google built-in” from brands like Nissan, Ford, and Lincoln, with Porsche joining in the future. Also, Android’s digital car key support will soon be available for select Volvo vehicles. This support will allow users to unlock, lock, and start their cars using their smartphones.

Google will soon make these features available for all users through a stable update. Stay tuned.
