Over 100 Samsung patents shared with small businesses to drive innovative growth
Today, the Industry Ministry announced that Samsung is helping small businesses by sharing more than 100 patents with them to promote shared growth. This year, Samsung transferred 128 patents to 85 companies, allowing them to use the technologies without paying royalty fees.
The sharing of patents is part of Samsung’s ongoing efforts to support innovation and assist small and medium-sized businesses in developing new products.
Launched in 2015, the patent-sharing program has now shared a total of 1210 patents with 673 companies. These patents cover a wide range of technologies, from smart display controls to wireless data-sharing solutions.
Some of the recent patents shared include a system that recommends a route recommendation system utilizing users’ biometric data, a display control method based on eye movement tracking, and a wireless data-sharing solution between a TV and a smartphone by scanning a radio frequency identification tag.
By offering these patents without requiring royalty payments, Samsung is helping small and medium-sized enterprises develop their own innovative products more quickly and at a lower cost.
“Korea will continue to support small and medium-sized enterprises in developing new products and business models to drive innovative growth through the technology-sharing program,” said the industry ministry.
