Samsung has won a bronze medal at the 2024 Clio Sports Awards for its campaign ‘Open Always Wins’, highlighting the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. The campaign is a documentary trilogy focusing on three new Olympic sports – skateboarding, breaking (breakdancing), and surfing.

Each documentary tells the story of how these sports became part of the Olympic Games and explores their unique cultures and values. The trilogy includes three parts: Concrete Dreams (Skateboarding), Breaking Boundaries (Breaking), and The Next Wave (Surfing).

The common theme of these films is “openness,” reflecting the spirit of the 2024 Paris Games. The documentaries were created in partnership with the leading global league for each sport and can be watched on Samsung’s YouTube channel.

In addition to the bronze win for the documentary series, Samsung’s other campaigns also received awards. Samsung Electronics UK won a silver award for its ‘Samsung Flip Park’ campaign in the Digital & Mobile category. This campaign featured an interactive skateboarding experience using the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung India also earned bronze awards for its campaign featuring Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, in the Direction and Editing categories.

The ‘Clio Sports Awards’ is an international advertising festival in the sports field established in 2014 by the ‘Clio Awards’, one of the world’s top three advertising awards, and it recognizes global campaigns that have inspired creative ideas.

Choi Seung-eun, Vice President at Samsung, said:

Through the 2024 Paris Olympics campaign, Samsung Electronics has presented an authentic story of innovation and challenge with an open mind. Samsung Electronics will continue to present various marketing activities that communicate with people around the world based on openness.”
