Samsung Galaxy S22 series won’t get Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1
Samsung confirmed a few Galaxy devices for the Galaxy AI features with the One UI 6.1 update. While the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 5 are getting the One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI features in the first half of the year, what about the Galaxy S22 series?
2022’s Samsung Galaxy S flagships will celebrate their 2nd anniversary next month. While the Galaxy S22 lineup is yet to be two years old, Samsung is not likely to offer Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1 update.

“We want to ensure that, over time, our AI experiences can be supported by [mobile] performance, which leads to CPU and GPU capability,” Chomet continued. “So for now, we are learning; we are going step-by-step.
Samsung’s Head of Customer Experience, Patrick Chomet hinted to TechRadar that the Galaxy S22 series isn’t eligible for Galaxy AI features, at least anytime soon. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra will benefit from the new artificial intelligence-derived tools.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy S23 FE is packed with the same chipset as the Galaxy S22 series. While the former is officially eligible for Galaxy AI tools, the latter isn’t. When asked about clarification, the Samsung exec said that only last-gen devices are eligible for now.
“Number one, we want to secure the quality and the performance of what we deploy. Then we will learn how people use [these features] and tune the performance. Number two, we will deploy [Galaxy AI] on a second set of devices – specifically, the S23, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 – to see how it works.”
Apart from this, Samsung hasn’t also expanded its longer software support to older Galaxy devices. The last two times, the company listed a few older models as well for the revised software lifespan. However, the new 7-year update plan is limited to the Galaxy S24 series.
