Synopsis Samsung 2nm

Synopsis reiterated its cooperation with Samsung on the 2nm process. The company is introducing new semiconductor technologies to shorten the development and launch period. It makes full use of artificial intelligence to automate manufacturing facilities.

GM of Synopsis announced that it is collaborating with Samsung and SK Hynix. Both Korea-based semiconductor vendors are working with Synopsis for further advancements. Synopsis revealed that AI is being applied to automate HBM development by manufacturers this year.

Automated manufacturing sites will significantly increase the launch speed of HBM makers. In addition, Samsung’s Foundry business has also partnered with Synopsis on the development of an advanced 2nm process technology.

Synopsis GM also shared key details of their collaboration with Samsung. The companies are working on the development of future technology, silicon photonics. FYI, silicon photonics transmits signals through optical fibers and attracts attention as a next-gen input/output tech.

Last month, the Korean tech giant announced that it plans to debut silicon photonics technology around 2027. Synopsys explained that applying “Synopsys.ai Copilot” can shorten the semiconductor launch period.

Samsung 3nm process

Samsung was the first chip maker which achieve 3nm process technology. The company has also commercialized its 3nm products for mines industry. For mobile devices, the Galaxy Watch 7 debuted a 3nm Exynos processor with improved performance and efficiency.

Meanwhile, the company is facing issues with its second-gen 3nm process yield. The production yield is currently 20% which makes it almost impossible for mass production. As a result, it’s too hard for Samsung to kick off the mass production of the 3nm Exynos 2500 processor.

Apple A18 Chip

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16, which is powered by the new A18 chip. This chip is a big upgrade from the previous A16 Bionic. It is designed to deliver a powerful performance and enhanced efficiency

The A18 chip features a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and a sixteen-core Neural Engine. These components work together to make the iPhone 16 up to 30% faster in single-core tasks compared to the iPhone 15. Users can expect smoother performance and quicker response time with the new iPhone.

Moreover, the Apple A18 chip arrives with an advanced memory system, which helps the chip manage traffic data more effectively. It uses a second-generation 3-nanometer fabrication process for less power usage to deliver high performance.

Apple iPhone 16

Apple officially launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. At It’s Glowtime event, the company unveiled new models for consumers. The vanilla model features a 6.1-inch screen, while the Plus variant packs a 6.7-inch panel.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus debut a dedicated Camera Control button. It is a touch-sensitive key, letting you snap a shot by tapping and adjusting zoom through a swipe gesture. For handy access, the iPhones boast this button below the power button.

Apple’s iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are powered by an A18 chip, up to 30% faster than iPhone 15. This 3nm chipset features a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and sixteen-core Neural Engine for faster artificial intelligence performance.

Samsung has been enjoying a fruitful market position in the past three quarters. However, the new hardware launch by Apple will help it grab the market leader crown. The third quarter is going to be Apple’s but not for much time as S25 is incoming.

The Galaxy S25 series will be equipped with a 3nm chipset. Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU is rumored to better compete with Apple’s A18 processor. However, the Apple Intelligence features are expected to benefit iPhone 16 models in key markets.

The iPhone 16 also bring Action button first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro models last year. More features include brighter and more durable screens as well as the A18 silicon, offering up to a twice as fast 16-core Neural Engine.

Unlike iPhone 15 lineup, Apple Intelligence is available across the iPhone 16 range. All four models support generative AI features derived from Apple Intelligence. It could lead older iPhone owners to upgrade to the new iPhone 16 model.
